Christopher (Rosser) Jackson is a sophomore at Gordon State College (GSC), where he majors in business administration. At GSC, Jackson has taken full advantage of student opportunities. He is a part of the theater program, the esports team and contributes to the marketing team’s media projects. He is currently pursuing an associate degree in business administration with plans to use it in a management or business improvement role.

Jackson’s go-to games are Minecraft, MLB The Show 25, Madden, and a recent favorite, the puzzle game "Blue Prince."

Jackson is captain of the esports team and student-body leader. He organizes events, manages game selections, and checks in regularly with members to try and promote a positive community.

“Games are more fun with friends, and it is of immense importance to me that we develop friendships through gaming. That is one of my biggest goals with Gordon State’s Esports Club and the competitive team,” said Jackson.

He came across GSC’s esports program during New Student Orientation. After attending one of the first club meetings, members held a vote for team captain and elected Jackson unanimously. Since then, he has competed in Tier 3 chess for two semesters and helped secure GSC’s first-ever win in the title,  a milestone achievement for the program.

“I will preach about practice. I was a triathlete in high school, so I know the effect practice has on your skill. I think the same principle can be applied to life in general. The more you try to do things, the better you will get,” said Jackson.

“Being a part of this collegiate team has been amazing. I have loved every second of it. Gordon State College’s E-Sports program has allowed me to make more friends than I ever thought I could have in college. It has also developed a motivation to attend classes, so I guess that’s a plus.”

Jackson praises the NJCAAE for offering a national platform where student-athletes can showcase their skills and compete at a high level. He believes the program positively impacts campuses and builds stronger gaming communities.

One of his most memorable NJCAAE experiences happened during a chess match.

“Back when I was playing chess last semester, I had a cow breakout on the farm. In the middle of my chess match, I had to run outside and grab a four-wheeler. I chased a cow up and down this fence line, on the four-wheeler, while playing competitive chess on my phone. Unfortunately, I lost that game, but it makes for a fun story. That will always be a core memory for me,” said Jackson.

This season, Jackson transitions to Fortnite Zero Build, aiming for new victories. Whether it’s planning campus events, chasing cows mid-match, or mentoring new teammates, Jackson plans to bring the same energy and dedication to every role he takes on.
