National Junior College Athletic Association Esports and Stay Plugged IN Form New Strategic Partnership
September 17, 2021
CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA – The National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE) and Stay Plugged IN (SPIN), an esports recruiting platform for college scholarships, announce the formation of a new strategic partnership. The parties seek to promote collegiate esports recruitment through creating programs for athletes, educators, coaches and parents across the country.
Executive Director of the NJCAAE, Jeff White states, “We have high hopes when it comes to working with SPIN and recruiting more members. Esports has such a diverse community already and we are just scratching the surface. Events cosponsored with SPIN will take it to the next level.”
Through this agreement, the NJCAAE and SPIN will collaborate on programming esports initiatives benefiting minorities and young women. They will also participate in joint promotional activities surrounding college recruitment and collegiate esports. The NJCAAE will incorporate its students into SPIN Showcases to provide recruitment opportunities to 4-year institutions.
According to NJCAA Director of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Kevin Thomas, “Providing access to competitive gaming and building an inclusive culture that recognizes talent while encouraging, supporting, and celebrating diversity in esports is imperative as we looked to expand opportunities to communities who traditionally are not heavily involved.”
Managing Director of SPIN, Rick Suarez adds, “Partnering with NJCAAE was an easy decision as many of their students are already familiar with the SPIN platform. Our mission of making esports accessible to all students, while educating them on the opportunities and benefits of higher education and career pathways, is strengthened with this partnership. We will help facilitate a pathway for all high school students to realize the opportunities presented by the hundreds of institutions under the NJCAAE umbrella. Finally, for those already in these two-year institutions, we will facilitate the recruitment into four year institutions.”
