Luke Schmidt (he/him), 19, is a student at Pratt Community College (PCC) getting his associate’s degree in business administration. He is anticipating graduating from Pratt in May, then transferring to the University of Kansas to pursue a degree in accounting. Schmidt is also a key player on the PCC esports team.

“I got involved with the esports program at PCC when I applied for an esports scholarship at the beginning of the year because I thought that it would be something really interesting and fun to participate in. I play Call of Duty, Overwatch and NBA2K for the esports team,” said Schmidt, “I have worked extensively with the team in practice and in my free time to improve the way I play and how we work together as a team. It has been quite great being a part of a collegiate team. Our team has become like a second family to me.”

Schmidt’s gamer tag is ‘ltb1771’, a name he came up with when he was just eight years old. The ‘ltb’ originally stood for Luke the Boss, but later changed to Luke the Bald, which he said he prefers. The gamertag was first used in the online game World of Tanks.

PCC Esports Coach, Charles Keefer, had nothing but good things to say about Luke.

“Luke serves as one of my team captains and truly represents what esports and my program are all about. He attends all of his classes, and he qualified and was nominated for the NJCAAE Academic All-American for the Fall semester. He is on track to have a high GPA again this Spring. He is always early to practice and wants to stay late and get in extra work. He plays on both the COD 4v4 and COD Warzone teams. He also helped our Warzone team pick up their first win of the season against in-state rival Hutchinson CC,” said Keefer, “As team captain, he is friends with all of the guys on the team and brings forth issues that need to be addressed. He came up with an attendance policy for the program with his fellow team captain. Finally, he has been at the forefront of our fundraising, team bonding, and recruiting events.”
